ABOUT CHARLES

Charles Lethaby has taken the world of lighting design by storm since launching his business back in September 2014.

Starting out with one-off bespoke commissions and partnerships with small interior designers, his first real breakthrough came just 12 months later when luxury British women’s wear brand, HOBBS selected Charles’ Elara light for its 2015 Christmas window displays.

More than 350 illuminated and non-illuminated versions of this iconic pendant were commissioned and hung in all major UK HOBBS branches including its flagship store in Covent Garden.

Since launching his brand at 100% Design in 2015 he has released over 150 products which are now stocked internationally in leading design stores such as Heal’s in London, ECC in New Zealand and Nordiska Galleriet in Stockholm. 

In addition to the current collection, Charles accepts commissions for bespoke light installations for both residential and commercial spaces. Commissioned work is developed specifically for you by Charles, and is hand-crafted in our studio. Charles works with a diverse group of artisans and manufacturers from across the world to ensure each commission is made to the highest standard.

Charles graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2004 with a degree in Product Design.
