ION Notation is a precision-engineered fountain pen celebrating the symbols, marks and characters that form the visual language of typography and graphic communication.

The design brings together a curated collection of typographic symbols, proofreader’s marks, punctuation, specialist characters and printing notation. Familiar forms sit alongside more obscure marks, revealing the visual language used to structure, correct and communicate the written word.

Engraved across the surface of the pen, these symbols transform the working vocabulary of the typographer, designer and printer into a permanent, tactile object designed to be carried and used every day.

Precision-machined from Grade 5 aerospace titanium or anodised aluminium, every ION Notation is individually machined, engraved and assembled in small batches. The result is a functional writing instrument that combines engineered precision with an appreciation for typography and the enduring craft of visual communication.

Compatible with standard international ink cartridges and converters, ION Notation is designed for daily use while remaining a highly collectable object for graphic designers, typographers, printers, writers and those fascinated by the visual language of the printed word.

Each pen is supplied with a paper authentication certificate as standard. Aluminium and Grade 5 titanium authentication certificates are available separately through the Authentication Works page.

All Compact pens are supplied with a double-threaded barrel as standard. If you would like a double thread on any other size, please contact us using the form, quoting your order number.

Supplied without a logo as standard. Optional end cap engraving may be requested after purchase.
