Introducing RELIC 03: LUNAR ASSIST — a singular metal work by Charles Lethaby.

Each RELIC is conceived as a 1/1 object. No two are the same. Individually machined, finished, and resolved by hand, every piece exists as a unique artefact — defined not only by its form, but by the subtle variations inherent in its making.

Crafted in anodised aluminium or titanium, LUNAR ASSIST captures the moment of ascent: the instant at which immense power, engineering precision, and human ambition converge. The composition centres on a heavy-lift rocket at ignition, framed by the geometric structure of the launch tower and grounded by the presence of the flag — a quiet symbol of origin, purpose, and exploration.

The title references the critical phase of flight in which guidance systems assume control, making thousands of adjustments beyond human capability. In this way, LUNAR ASSIST is not simply a depiction of a launch, but a reflection on humanity's relationship with technology — our ability to extend intention through engineering and reach beyond our natural limits.

The surface is carefully treated to create a restrained interplay of light and shadow. Fine details emerge gradually as the piece is viewed from different angles, rewarding close inspection and revealing new characteristics over time. This quiet complexity is intentional — a reflection of both the subject matter and the process through which the work is made.

Sized to the proportions of a traditional baseball card, each piece measures approximately 89mm × 64mm, translating a familiar format into a permanent, material form.

RELIC 03 is not a reproduction, but a singular work of material presence — a one-of-one object that commemorates one of humanity's most ambitious pursuits: the journey beyond Earth.
