RELIC 01: LIBERTY ALUMINIUM

Introducing RELIC 01: LIBERTY — the inaugural piece in a new series of singular metal works by Charles Lethaby.

Each RELIC is conceived as a 1/1 object. No two are the same. Individually machined, finished, and resolved by hand, every piece exists as a unique artefact — defined not only by its form, but by the subtle variations inherent in its making.

Crafted in anodised aluminium or titanium, LIBERTY presents an enduring symbol of independence, distilled into a precise and permanent expression. The graphic is not applied, but engraved into the surface — embedded within the material itself — ensuring a clarity and permanence that will not fade over time.

The surface is carefully treated to achieve a controlled interplay of light: a restrained, satin depth that reveals itself gradually, shifting with its environment. This quiet complexity is intentional — a reflection of both the process and the philosophy behind the work.

Sized to the proportions of a traditional baseball card, each piece measures approximately 89mm x 64mm, translating a familiar format into a permanent, material form.

RELIC 01 is not a reproduction, but a singular work of material presence — designed to stand alone or exist in dialogue with the wider ION series.
